How We Calculate Your Estimate

Every figure in this estimator is derived from DemandQ's 12+ years of verified field data. Here is the methodology behind the numbers.

Annual Portfolio Demand Charge

We calculate the total annual demand charge across your entire portfolio by multiplying the mid-point of your selected monthly demand charge tier by 12 months and the number of facilities.

Annual charge = facilities × monthly_demand_midpoint × 12

Demand Savings Range

DemandQ's verified portfolio results show a consistent 10–25% reduction in peak demand. The low estimate uses 10% (conservative), the mid uses the 15% portfolio average, and the high uses the 25% top-performer rate.

Savings = annual_charge × reduction_rate (10% – 25%)

Peak kW Reduction

We estimate total peak kW reduction across the portfolio by applying the demand reduction percentage to the mid-point facility size in kW. This figure is useful for grid participation programs and sustainability reporting.

kW reduced = facilities × avg_kW × reduction_rate

CO₂ Emissions Reduction

Carbon impact is estimated by converting demand reduction to avoided energy consumption using a 30% HVAC load factor, 8,760 annual operating hours, and the EPA eGRID average US emission factor of 0.386 kg CO₂ per kWh.
